Vestavia Hills Names New Men’s Hoops Coach

Vestavia Hills, AL – After 35 years of Hatchett Hoops, the Vestavia Rebels have new leadership on the hardwood.

Former Thompson Warriors head coach Patrick Davis will take the helm from Hall of Fame head coach George Hatchett.  Hatchett lead the Rebel men’s basketball program for 35 years, racking up 550 wins and two AHSAA state titles. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Vestavia Hills Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

Before being relieved of his duties as Thompson head coach in March of 2016, Davis lead the Warriors to a 121-86 record over seven seasons in Alabaster.  In 2013 the Warriors advanced to the AHSAA Elite Eight, after which Davis received Coach of the Year awards from the Birmingham Tip-Off Club and the Shelby County Coaches Association.  Davis served as a men’s basketball assistant coach at THS from 2004-2009 before being named the Warriors head coach. He won 58 percent of his games after being named head coach.

“God obviously has a plan for me somewhere different.  God is completely sovereign and completely good, all the time.  I can not wait to see what He has in store for me and my family”.  Davis said in a statement after being dismissed at Thompson.
