Curry’s Ashley Swindle Named National Softball Player Of The Year

Curry, AL – Curry Yellow Jackets senior Ashley Swindle has been named the 2016 American Family Insurance Softball Player of the Year.

She has also been named the best high school softball player in the nation by USA Today and Alabama player of the year by Gatorade.

Swindle’s latest honor comes after being named the AHSAA 4A state softball tournament MVP after leading the Jackets to their second consecutive state title in Montgomery.

The standout pitcher finished the season with a record of 45-2 on the mound while hitting .557 with 13 home runs and 86 RBI’s at the plate.

Swindle and Curry teammate Justus Perry have committed to play at the next level for the national runner-up Auburn Tigers.
