Auburn Hoops Commit Austin Wiley Transferring from Spain Park

Hoover, AL – Alabama’s number one ranked high school basketball prospect is transferring from Hoover’s Spain Park High to an out of state prep school.

The 6’11 Auburn commit will be entering his senior season as the 18th best men’s hoops player in the country, according to 247 Sports.

It is not clear where Wiley will be playing his final season of high school hoops.  However, multiple media outlets have reported that he plans to enroll in a Florida prep school.

Wiley has not been available for comment since his 30 point performance during the AHSAA All-Star weekend in late July.

In recent years, many of the nations top basketball talent have begun transferring from traditional high school programs in favor of prep schools like Florida’s Montverde Academy.  Most prep schools are not members of state high school athletic associations and are not subject to strict practice regulations.

A Max Preps All-American and former Birmingham New player of the year, Wiley committed to Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers in September 2015.  He holds offers from the nations top basketball programs including Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas.
