Mike Cain out as Dora Head Football Coach

Dora, AL – For the second time in three years the Dora Bulldogs are searching for a new head football coach.   After leading the Bulldog program to a 4-16 record, over two seasons, Mike Cain is out.

In Cain’s first season, the Bulldogs posted their first winless season in 16 years.  The Dogs improved to 4-6 in 2016 notching wins over Carbon Hill, Fayette County, Good Hope and Winston County.

Prior to Cain’s arrival, the Bulldogs had advanced to the post season for five consecutive seasons under three different head coaches.

Before accepting the Bulldogs top job, Cain served as the defensive coordinator at Jemison High School for one season helping guide the 5A Panthers to a 4-6 record.  The Walker County coaching veteran also spent time as the Curry Yellow Jackets offensive coordinator and head coach at Oakman from 2007-2008 posting a 10-11 record.

Cain’s career head coaching record stands at 14-27, 8-19 in region play.

The Walker County native played quarterback at Jasper’s Walker High before transferring to Curry.  After graduating from Curry, Cain competed at quarterback for Samford University.

The search for the next Bulldogs head coach will be lead by a committee of community members, Dora alumni and DHS Principal Paige Skalnik.
