Alabaster, AL – The No. 3 Thompson Warriors put up 512 yards of offense to roll over the 10th ranked Mountain Brook Spartans 40-13 Friday night at Larry Simmons Stadium.

Mark Freeman’s Warrior offense crossed the goal line on their first six drives to go up 40-0 while keeping the Spartans off the scoreboard through three quarters.

Both of Mountain Brook’s touchdowns came in the fourth quarter.  Senior quarterback Hamp Sission connected with Clay Stearns from 14 yards out for the Spartans first score, Ben Savage added the second, rushing in from just outside the five yard line.

Thompson’s Shadrick Boyd lead the Warrior rushing attach with 162 yards on 14 carries including four touchdowns, three in the first quarter.  Junior quarterback Tulia Tagovailva completed 15 of 20 passes for 241 yards through the air while rushing for 14 yards and one score on the ground. Ahmed Harris-Edwards paced the Thompson receiving corps, hauling in 11 catches for 153 yards.

The Thompson defense became the first to hold Spartan running back Harold Joiner under 100 yards and out of the endzone through four games.  Joiner carried the ball 21 times for 60 yards.

Jalen Rayam lead the Warrior defense with seven tackes, a sack and an interception.  Myles Brown added a second INT for the Warriors.  Both Thompson takeaways ended promising Spartan drives in Warrior territory.

The win improves the Warriors to 3-0 on the season, 2-0 in region play and places them in a tie for the top spot in 7A region 3 with the second ranked Hoover Bucs.   Thompson will look to remain unbeaten as they travel to Heardmont Park Friday night to take on the Oak Mountain Eagles (3-1) (1-1).

Mountain Brook drops to 2-2, 0-2 in region 3, after facing 7A’s second and third ranked teams in consecutive weeks.  The Spartans road doesn’t get much easier this week as they host another top 10 opponent, the Spain Park Jaguars (3-1), (1-1) at Spartan Stadium.
