Hoover earns 19th straight playoff birth with win over Spain Park

Hoover, AL – The Hoover Bucs pulled away late to notch their fourth consecutive victory over cross-town rival Spain Park Friday night at the Hoover Met. After a back-and-forth first half, the fourth ranked Bucs walked off the Met Plex turf with a 42-35 win.

The Hoover victory, coupled with Mountain Brook’s 11-10 win over Hewitt-Trussville, secured the Bucs 19th consecutive trip to the AHSAA postseason.

Senior running back Anthony Hayes lead the Bucs with four rushing touchdowns, pilling up 284 yards on 28 carries. Junior signal caller Josh Lundy passed for 204 yards, completing 16-of-22 throws for 205 yards, a pair of scores and an interception. Raymone Hamilton paced the Hoover receiving corps with 6 grabs for 70 yards and a touchdown reception.

Spain Park quarterback Harrison Barker completed 17-of-29 passes for 204 yards including two touchdowns and three picks. Michael Callens rushed for 31 yards on seven carries while David Moultry hauled in six catches for 54 yards.

Hoover returns to action next Friday night hosting arch rival Vestavia Hills (5-2, 3-2). The Jaguars welcome The Oak Mountain Eagles (3-4, 1-4) to Bob Finley Field.
