#4 Hoover holds off Vestavia to improve to 7-1

Hoover, AL – The fourth ranked Hoover Bucs improved to 7-1 with a 35-28, come from behind win over rival Vestavia Hills (5-3, 3-3) Friday night at the Hoover Met.

The Bucs scored a pair of touchdowns in the game’s final three minutes to give Hoover their fourth straight victory over the Rebels. The win marked the Bucs 13th victory over their arch rivals in the team’s last 15 meetings.

Hoover running back Anthony Hayes lead the Bucs rushing attack racking up 113 yards and two scores, including the game winner, on the ground while adding three receptions for 85 yards and a score through the air. Quarterback Josh Lundy completed 21 of 36 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown.

Vestavia signal caller Eli Sawyer threw for 121 yards, completing 8 of 21 passes including a pair of scores.

Spain Park‘s 35-28 double overtime win over Oak Mountain secured the Rebels spot in the 7A postseason.

The Bucs travel to fifth ranked Mountain Brook (7-1, 5-1) next week with the winner claiming the number two spot in region 3 heading into the postseason. Vestavia welcomes the Oak Mountain Eagles (3-5, 1-5) to Thompson Reynolds Stadium to close out region play.
