During his senior season, the Alabama commit set new AHSAA records for total touchdowns (175) and yards of total offense (13,219). During his MVP performance Thursday at Jordan-Hare, Story played both was, racking up 359 yards on offense while recording nine tackles, recovering a fumble and pulling down an interception on defense.

In a news release Valley High School head coach Buster Daniel said. “Kristian is the kind of player who is hard to defend. He prolongs plays with his feet, gets out of the pocket and throws the ball downfield, or he just out thinks you. He’s a complete player.”

The Gatorade Player of the Year Award honors players who have combined athletic excellence, community service and academic success. The last two Gatorade award winners, Pinson Valley’s Bo Nix and Austin’s Asa Martin, also won Alabama’s Mr. Football award.
