Hoover Bucs Player of the Week | Bennett Meredith

Hoover, AL – Hoover quarterback Bennett Meredith posted another standout performance under-center leading the powerhouse Bucs to a 24-21 come-from-behind victory over the two-time defending state champion and previously No. 1 ranked Thompson Warriors Friday night at the Hoover Met.

Trailing 21-10 at the half, the senior signal caller guided the Bucs to a pair of second half scores, including the game winner, with 0:14 seconds remaining in the contest.  Meredith lead Hoover on a 82 yard drive culminating in an eight yard scoring strike to Jabari Gaines with 14 ticks left on the clock to hand the Warriors their first loss since October 25th, 2019.  

Meredith, who just competed his first season in a Hoover uniform after transferring from Spain Park, finished the game with 279 yards through the air, completing 22-of-37 passes and three scores. 

The 6’3, 190 lb. three-star senior currently holds offers from Appalachian State, Jacksonville State, Troy, Louisiana-Monroe and Toledo.  

The top ranked Bucs closed out the regular season at a perfect 10-0 and will host the Sparkman Senators (4-5) November 5th at the Hoover Met to kick-off the AHSAA 7A postseason.
