Rigby receives the 2022 FCA Bubby Scott Lifetime Achievement Award

Montgomery, AL – Troy University women’s head basketball coach Chanda Rigby was named the 10th recipient of the Herman L. Bubba Scott Lifetime Achievement Award by the Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Thursday in Montgomery.

The award was announced and presented by Alabama FCA State Director John Gibbons at the annual FCA Luncheon held a the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center as part of the AHSAA Summer Conference.

Coach Rigby, who is married to Ed Rigby, head football coach at Pike Road High School,  was recognized for her integrity, faith and service as a teacher and coach and for her success with the student-athletes entrusted to her throughout the years on and off the floor. She has earned a reputation as a coach who turns struggling programs into winners. Her Troy team won just two games the year before her arrival and have won five Sun Belt Conference titles since taking over the program – and have reached the NCAA National Tourney.

The award, named for Scott, a former AHSAA Executive Director who played a key role in helping FCA get its start in Alabama. The Christian organization serves high school and colleges throughout the state. It is given, thanks to Alabama Power Company and the Scott Family, to someone who embodies the same faith and goals as Scott, now deceased, had during his career.

Lonnie Cochran, the FCA Campus Director at Troy University, was the keynote speaker with more than 300 coaches and administrators at the Summer Conference attending the luncheon.
