Brandon Wilcox out after three games at Escambia Academy

Atmore, AL – After leading the Escambia Academy Cougars for three games head coach Brandon Wilcox and the south Alabama private school have mutually agreed to part ways.

“Escambia Academy can confirm that Coach Brandon Wilcox is no longer a part of the EA program.  As this is an ongoing process, we cannot comment further at this time”.  The school released via social media.

The 0-3 Cougars, who have been outscored 120-45 through three games, are scheduled to welcome AISA foe Valiant Cross Academy (1-3) to Bachelor Field Friday night.

Wilcox accepted the Escambia Academy head football coach and athletic director position soon after being relieve of his duties after one season at W.S. Neal High School.  Former Escambia Academy head coach Hugh Fountain eventually accepted the W.S. Neal position after a two week stint at Pike Liberal Arts School

The Brewton native began his head coaching career at Marion County, leading the Red Raiders to a 10-14 record over two seasons, including a trip to the AHSAA Class 1A semifinals in his 2014.  His next stop was a four year stint at Montevallo where he posted a 28-16 record and three trips to the postseason.  After one year as the offensive coordinator at Center Point he accepted the head coaching position at W.S. Neal, posting a 0-10 record in 2021.

Wilcox’s career head coaching record currently stands at 38-43 with a 4-4 mark in postseason play over eight seasons.
