Homewood Wins Battle of Lakeshore with 35-6 Victory Over John Carroll Catholic

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Homewood Patriots kicked off their season with a decisive 35-6 victory over cross-town rival John Carroll Catholic Friday night at Pat Sullivan Field . Evan Ausmer led the charge with an impressive 104 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Quarterback Will Myers also contributed significantly, rushing for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots showcased their strength on the ground, amassing 190 rushing yards. Myers also completed 5-of-9 passes for 95 yards, with Kylen Newell hauling in three key receptions for 66 yards.

Homewood established a commanding lead, rolling to a 28-6 advantage at the half by scoring two touchdowns in both the first and second quarters.

John Carroll quarterback, Garrett Barnes, completed 17-of-29 passes for 158 yards but was hindered by an interception. Aubrey Walker was a standout performer for the Cavaliers, catching seven passes for 84 yards and scoring the Cav’s lone touchdown. Tristian Rutledge carried the running game for John Carroll, gaining 47 yards on 14 carries.

Looking ahead, Homewood will welcome Briarwood Christian (0-1) to Waldrop Stadium on Friday, while John Carroll is set to travel to Fairhope for a matchup against St. Michael Catholic (1-0).
