Oxford Travels to Georgia and Picks Up Season Opening Victory
OXFORD, AL – The Oxford Yellow Jackets, ranked 6th in Class 6A, kicked off their season with an impressive 56-46 road win over Georgia’s Central Carrollton on Friday night.
Despite facing a 10-point deficit with just over eight minutes left in the third quarter, Oxford rallied, outscoring Central Carrollton 35-15 to secure the victory.
Jackets Quarterback Mason Mims played a pivotal role, completing 28-of-35 passes for an astounding 442 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Caleb Wynn made a significant impact with 139 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries. Additionally, Buck Richardson contributed to the scoreboard with a touchdown reception.
Looking ahead, head coach Sam Adams’ Yellow Jackets will welcome the surging Moody Blue Devils, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, to Lamar Field next Friday night.
