Third Ranked Guntersville Claws Past Southside-Gadsden
SOUTHSIDE, AL – The Guntersville Wildcats, ranked third in Class 5A, traveled to Barney Hood Stadium and came away with an impressive 35-13 victory over Southside-Gadsden Friday night.
Quarterback Street Smith shined in the season opener completing 16-of-18 passes, amassing 215 yards and a touchdown. His leading receiver, Dadrien Walker, pulled down an impressive seven receptions for 113 yards, finding the end zone for a touchdown.
On the ground, Julyon Jordan led the Wildcat rushing attack with 150 yards and a touchdown with 20 carries. Enelson Delva contributed significantly with 100 yards and three touchdowns on 21 attempts, while also connecting on a pair of passes for 14 yards.
Guntersille receiver Cam Logan added 65 yards from four catches. Jack Lenoir and Treyvon Avery also contributed with 17 and 6 yards respectively.
Looking ahead, head coach Lance Reese’s Wildcats will hit the road next Friday night to take on the 0-1 Fort Payne Wildcats. Southside travels to Hokes Bluff’s Mike Robertson Stadium.
