Center Point Downs Fultondale 36-6

CENTER POINT, AL – The Class 5A Center Point Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season with a 36-6 vctory over the 4A Fultondale Wildcats Friday night at Bowman Field.  .

Center Point running back Julius Finnerson shined for head coach George Bates’ Eagles, rushing for 93 yards on 17 carries and scoring two touchdowns. Quarterback Therman Deon Moore also had a stellar game, running for 91 yards on just four carries, including a remarkable 68-yard touchdown run.

Moore was efficient in the passing game as well, completing 3-of-4 passes for a total of 78 yards. 

Center Point initiated the scoring with Keywone Posey’s 6-yard touchdown reception. Antonio Garfield successfully secured the 2-point conversion, putting the home team up early 8-0. Finnerson extended the Eagle lead with a 7-yard rushing touchdown, followed by Moore’s 2-point conversion, bringing the lead to 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The lone score of the second quarter came as Moore bolted 68 yards into the endzone. Tubbs contributed significantly on defense as well, returning an interception for 97 yards, pushing the Eagles’ lead to 30-0 in the third. Finnerson put the game on ice with 2-yard burst across the goal line in the fourth quarter.  

Looking ahead, Center Point is set to host Lincoln (0-2) in their Region 6 opener this Friday. Coach Keon Handley’s Wildcats (1-1) will kickoff region play with a road trip to Good Hope (1-0).
