Minor Rallies To Take Down Paul Bryant 17-7
COTTONDALE, AL – The Minor Tenacious Tigers overcame an early setback to secure their second win of the season, defeating the Paul Bryant Stampede on the road. Despite trailing 7-0 in the first quarter after Adam Hood of the Stampede caught a touchdown pass from Javion Johnson, the Tigers responded.
Jose Barcenas narrowed the deficit by kicking a 27-yard field goal, narrowing the Stampede advantage to 7-3 at the half. The Tigers showcased their defensive prowess in the third quarter by blocking a punt and recovering it for a touchdown, propelling the visitors to a 10-7 lead.
In the fourth, Sherman Williams delivered a 15-yard touchdown pass to George Lewis, sealing the victory for Minor with a final score of 17-7. Williams had an efficient night, completing 7-of-13 pass attempts for a total of 88 yards.
On the ground, Adam Gooman led the Tigers with 35 yards on just two carries, while Trevone Hurth added 32 yards over 11 rush attempts. Lewis contributed significantly with two receptions totaling 35 yards.
Next up, Minor will kick off their Class 6A Region 5 campaign with a road trip to Woodlawn on Thursday. Paul Bryant from will kick off Region 4 play at Central-Tuscaloosa on Friday.
