Auburn Slips Past Rival Opelika 28-21

AUBURN, AL – In a thrilling matchup at Duck Samford Stadium on Friday night, the 4th ranked Auburn Tigers secured a 28-21 win against rival Opelika, thanks to a critical interception by Alex Gamston in the game’s final minutes.

The Tigers’ offense was propelled by Omar Mabson, who carried the ball 22 times for an impressive 176 yards and scored twice. Josh Askew, a key player in the air, caught seven passes for 147 yards, including a touchdown. Quarterback Jackson Kilgore showcased his passing skills, completing 19-of-28 attempts for a total of 268 yards and a score.

Charlie Ward lit up the scoreboard for head coach Keith Etheredge’s Tigers with a notable 29-yard touchdown run, further solidifying their offensive momentum.

On the defensive side, Greg Williams dominated with 13 tackles, while Caleb Pitts contributed with nine stops, including two for a loss, exemplifying Auburn’s strong defensive line-up.
