No. 5 Oxford Stings Pinson Valley 40-7
OXFORD, AL – Coach Sam Adams’ Oxford Yellow Jackets, ranked No. 5 in Class 6A, maintained their impressive run with a commanding 40-7 victory over the Pinson Valley Indians on Friday night at Lamar Field.
The victory improves the Yellow Jackets to 4-0, 2-0 in region play. The Indians slip to 1-3, 1-1.
Mason Mims, a Louisville commit, showcased his skills by completing 12 out of 19 passes, amassing 197 yards and securing three touchdowns.
Caleb Wynn spearheaded the Yellow Jackets’ ground game with 114 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. He also contributed with three receptions totaling 22 yards.
On the receiving end, Nick Richardson, a South Alabama baseball commit, led with three catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. Jaylin Taylor added three receptions for 33 yards and a score, while D.K. Wilson chipped in with 55 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, South Carolina commit Keenan Britt stood out, registering 10 tackles (two solo), five tackles for loss, and putting pressure on the quarterback four times, one of which resulted in a safety following intentional grounding.
Looking ahead, Oxford is set to travel to Spartan Stadium to take on Mountain Brook (3-1, 1-1) next Friday. Meanwhile, Pinson Valley will make the trip to Irondale to face the Shades Valley Mounties (1-3, 0-2).
