Arab Blanks Madison Academy 20-0

ARAB, AL – The Arab Arabian Knights shut out Madison Academy with a commanding 20-0 victory Friday night on Brindlee Mountain.  This marks the first time the Mustangs have been held scoreless since a 3-0 second round playoff loss to Leeds back in 2006.

The Knights, now 4-2 under the leadership of first-year head coach Kyle Routon, demonstrated a strong defensive effort throughout the matchup highlighted by seven sacks and a defensive score.  

Arab quarterback Drew Puccio connected on 9-of-16 passes for 80 yards.  Puccio’s favorite target was standout receiver Landon Strickland who finished the night with six catches for 56 yards.  Logan Alldredge shined in the Knights ground attack carrying the ball 24 times for 85 yards and a pair of scores.  

On defense, Jaxon Ivey was a standout for Arab, recording 4.5 sacks. Zac Hallman also contributed to the Knight’s stifling defense with a 32-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

For Madison Academy, quarterback Charleston Owens showcased his dual-threat ability by leading the team with 21 carries for 70 yards while completing  7-of-12 throws for an additional 20 yards.

Looking ahead, Arab (4-2) will return to Class 5A, Region 8 play next Friday night, welcoming the Douglas Eagles to the SportsPlex. Madison Academy, sitting at 2-3 overall and 2-1 in Class 4A, Region 8, will face region rival North Jackson at Bill Washington Stadium.
