Casey Shines in Gardendale Victory over Central-Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Gardendale Rockets traveled to Tuscaloosa Friday night and came home with a 33-28 win over the Central Falcons.  

Rockets running back Urijah Casey made a significant impact in Gardendale’s narrow victory over their west Alabama foes. The dynamic freshman carried the ball 25 times for a total of 131 yards and accounted for a pair of crucial touchdowns. 

Casey’s contributions included a 7-yard rushing score and an 18-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Deacon Dyer. 

His standout performance was complemented by Ryan McPherson, who successfully split the uprights on field goals of 30 and 43 yards.

Head coach Chad Eads Rockets are building momentum as the second of half of the season gets underway.  The non-region win improves Gardendale to 4-2 on the season, increasing their winning streak to three games.  In contrast, the Falcons have come up short in their last three contests slipping to 3-3 on the year.  

Looking ahead, the Rockets will return to region play next week, traveling Over the Mountain to Waldrop Stadium take on the Homewood Patriots (5-1, 3-0) in a crucial Class 6A, Region 5 matchup.  Central hits the road to McCalla to face the McAdory Yellow Jackets (3-1, 2-0).
