2nd Ranked Guntersville dominates No. 9 Scottsboro to Remain Unbeaten in Class 5A

Guntersville, AL – The Guntersville Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A ran their unbeaten streak to seven games by overpowering 9th ranked Scottsboro with a decisive 34-7 win Friday night at Chorba-Lee Stadium.  The victory cements Guntersville’s position at the top of the Class 5A, Region 8 standings.

Guntersville’s Brandon Manganaris split the uprights from 46-yards out and standout running back Enelson Delva bolted into the endzone to put Gunterville up 10-0 at the end of the first half.

Head coach Lance Reese’s squad continued their dominance, outscoring Scottsboro 24-7 in the second half.  Julyon Jordan contributed a pair of touchdowns and Delva scored his second of the night . Manganaris put the game on ice with a 30-yard field goal.

Guntersville now holds a 7-0 record overall and remains unbeaten in Class 5A, Region 8 with at 4-0. They are set to travel to L.F. Corley Stadium next Friday night to face Marshall County rival Boaz (5-2, 3-1). Meanwhile, Scottsboro stands at 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the region, they will welcome the Arab Arabian Knights (5-2, 3-1) to Pat Trammell Stadium in a pivotal Region 8 showdown.
