Chad Eads Earns 50th Career Victory as Gardendale Rolls Over Woodlawn
BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Gardendale Rockets cruised to a decisive 40-14 win over the Woodlawn Colonels in a Class 6A, Region 5 matchup on Friday night in Birmingham. This victory boosts the Rockets’ record to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in regional play, while the Colonels are still searching for their first win at 0-8. This victory moves Gardendale closer to clinching a spot in the Class 6A playoffs.
Additionally, the win marked a milestone for head coach Chad Eads, celebrating his 50th career win. Quarterback Deacon Dyer was instrumental in the Rockets’ success, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another.

Dyer tossed touchdown passes to Braylon Henry and Carter Jenkins, completing 15-of-26 passes for a total of 185 yards through the air. On the ground, he added eight carries for 63 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run. Special teams shined as well, with Kamari Todd returning a kickoff 75 yards for a score while Ryan McPherson contributing with field goals from 27 and 46 yards. Standout freshman running back Urijay Casey added a 3-yard rushing touchdown.
Looking ahead, Gardendale will take a week nine break before facing the 4th ranked Spain Park Jaguars (8-0, 5-0) at Driver Stadium on November 1st to cap the regular season. Woodlawn will host the 3rd ranked Parker Thundering Herd (8-1, 5-0) next Friday night.
