Charlie Taaffe Leads Vestavia Hills to 42-0 Victory Over Tuscaloosa County
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL – Sophomore quarterback Charlie Taaffe led the Vestavia Hills Rebels to a decisive 42-0 victory over the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats in a key Class 7A, Region 3 matchup at Thompson Reynolds Stadium on Friday night.
This marks the Rebels’ third consecutive win, improving their record to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in regional play. Meanwhile, the Wildcats remain winless this season with an 0-8 record.
Taaffe showcased his skills by completing 11 out of 15 passes for 235 yards, resulting in two touchdowns. He also excelled in the running game, leading the team with 89 rushing yards on six carries and scoring two additional touchdowns.

Contributing to the ground attack, Carson Mann gained 63 yards on seven carries, and Carson Purdy added 50 yards on five attempts, including a touchdown. Senior offensive lineman Landon Page scored with a 1-yard run. Zachary Laws made an impact with three catches for 83 yards, one resulting in a touchdown, while Luke Stubbs caught four passes for 75 yards and a score.
Looking ahead, the Rebels are set to visit archrival Hoover at the Hoover Met next Friday night, while Tuscaloosa County will host the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies in Northport.
