Helena Tops Chelsea in North Shelby Showdown
CHELSEA, AL – The Helena Huskies celebrated their third consecutive victory with a 38-28 win over the Chelsea Hornets Friday night in north Shelby County. This win in the Class 6A, Region 3 matchup not only cemented their spot as the two seed in Region 3 but also ensured home field advantage for the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
With the victory, the Huskies improve to 5-3 overall, 4-1 in regional play. On the flip side, Chelsea drops their second straight region contest to slip to 3-2 in region play, 6-2 on the season.
Helena’s offense was powered by Jeremy Spratling, who rushed for 162 yards on 16 carries, scoring two touchdowns. Dom Santiago added a strong performance on the ground with 130 yards on 15 carries, also securing a pair of scores.

Husky signal caller Nate Ferguson was efficient through the air, completing 7-of-11 passes for 74 yards and a score. Gavin Franks was a key target, catching two passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.
Looking ahead, Coach Richie Busby’s Huskies will travel to Ricky M. Cairns Memorial stadium to take on the Calera Eagles (3-5, 3-3), next Friday to cap the regular season. Chelsea is set to host the Benjamin Russell Wildcats (4-4, 3-2) in their final region game before closing out their season on November 1st at 7A Oak Mountain.
