Fyffe Earns 66-30 First Round Victory Over Ohatchee

FYFFE, AL – The Fyffe Red Devils kicked off the the Class 3A postseason with a commanding 66-30 victory over the Ohatchee Indians Thursday night on Sand Mountain

The win earns the two-time defending Class 2A state champion Red Devils their 14th consecutive trip to the second round of the postseason.  

Leading the charge for Fyffe was Ryder Gipson, who racked up an impressive 253 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns. Gipson found the end zone from 53, 4, 8, and 2 yards out, showcasing his tenacity and skill on the field.

Logan Anderson set the tone with a 42-yard touchdown to start the contest. Blake Dobbins lit up the Paul Benefield Stadium scoreboard with a remarkable 22-yard interception return for a touchdown. Additionally, Everett DeBoard and Maddox Doss contributed scores, with Doss adding an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and another rushing score.

Ohatchee signal caller Jake Roberson delivered a strong performance by completing 21-of-35 passes for a total of 376 yards and four touchdowns. Receivers Jayden Heard and Colby Hester each caught two touchdown passes, showcasing the Indians’ offensive capabilities despite the loss.

The Indians season comes to a close at 6-5.  Fyffe will face the winner of Friday night’s first round matchup between the Gordo Green Wave and the Rogers Pirates.
