Moody Throttles Ramsay 49-7 to Earn Historic Semifinal Appearance
MOODY, AL – The Moody Blue Devils cruised to a commanding 49-7 win over the Ramsay Rams during Friday night’s Class 5A quarterfinal matchup at Bill Morris Stadium.
With the victory, Moody (10-2) moves on to the AHSAA semifinals for the first time in program history. Ramsay’s season comes to a close at 8-4..
Moody set the tone early, driving 62 yards in 10 plays on their opening possession. Running back Bravis Cave finished the drive with a 4-yard touchdown, putting the Blue Devils up 7-0.
Ramsay quickly answered with their only score of the evening as quarterback Kam Keenan connected with Deuce Alexander on a 28-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 7-7.
The Blue Devils regained momentum when quarterback Charlie Johnston hit Josiah Dozier for a 21-yard touchdown, stretching the lead to two scores.
A critical play came later in the first quarter when Bailey Abercrombie recovered a fumble deep in Ramsay territory, putting Moody in excellent scoring position. Two plays later, Le’Kamren Meadows powered into the end zone from 3 yards out, giving Moody a 21-7 lead.
The Blue Devils put the game out of reach before halftime with two more touchdowns. Johnston found Dozier again for a 37-yard score, followed by a highlight-worthy 75-yard fumble return by Baroc Willis. The Blue Devils entered the break with a dominant 35-7 advantage.
After the break, Meadows added his second touchdown of the night on a 2-yard run, followed by Johnston’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Braden Wright, putting the game on ice at 49-7.
