Danny Stiff Steps Down After Two Seasons as Cullman Bearcats Head Football Coach

CULLMAN, AL – Cullman High School announced Tuesday that Danny Stiff has resigned after leading the Bearcats to a pair of 5-6 seasons.

“We appreciate everything Coach Stiff has done for our student-athletes and the football program during his time here,” the school said in a statement. “We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”

During his two seasons leading the Bearcats, Stiff compiled a 10-12 record and guided the program to a pair of Class 6A playoff appearances.

Cullman will now begin the search for the program’s 30th head football coach. According to the school’s statement, they aim to make a hire by February or early March.

Prior to taking over the Cullman program in 2023, Stiff gained significant experience at the college level. The Hoover native previously served as the Director of Player Personnel at the University of Tennessee and held roles as a recruiting and personnel assistant at the University of Alabama. From 2014 to 2016, he served as an assistant coach at Jacksonville State University. Earlier in his career, Stiff spent time as an assistant coach at Spain Park, Hueytown, and Gadsden City high schools.

The Bearcats closed out 2024 at 5-6, falling to eventual Class 6A state champion Parker in the first round of the post season.
