Alabama Public Television to Broaden AHSAA Football Coverage in 2025
MONTGOMERY, AL: Alabama Public Television (APT) announced plans to significantly increase coverage of Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) football events beginning with the 2025 season. The expansion will include live broadcasts of regular-season games, state playoff matchups, and additional special events.
Key Expansion Details
- Regular-Season and Playoffs: APT will broadcast 16 regular-season and postseason games leading up to the Super 7 State Championships in Birmingham (December 3-5, 2025).
- Weekly Game of the Week: AHSAA’s “Game of the Week” will air Thursdays during the regular season, with special Friday broadcasts for playoff games.
- All-Star Coverage: Viewers can look forward to the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic and North-South All-Star Classics in December.
- Pre-Game Show: A live pre-game program will air at 5 p.m. on APT, with replays on WOTM.TV at 6 p.m. before kickoff.
APT has successfully aired the AHSAA Super 7 State Football Championships and State Basketball Championships live for the last two years, providing statewide coverage to nearly every household.

- Simulcasting: Starting August 21-22, 2025, “Kickoff Classic” games and featured broadcasts will air on both APT and WOTM.TV.
- Live Streaming: All games will also be available through the NFHS Network’s digital platform for additional accessibility.
New Additions
Mickey Shadrix, a veteran broadcaster with over 25 years of experience, has joined WOTM.TV as Director of Communications and Special Events to enhance the network’s event coverage. Shadrix celebrated this collaboration, saying, “This expansion provides unparalleled opportunities to highlight Alabama’s high school athletes.”
