Nathan McDaniel Steps Down as Elberta Head Football Coach After Five Seasons
ELBERTA, AL – Elberta High School head football coach and athletic director Nathan McDaniel announced his decision to step down after leading the Warriors for five seasons. McDaniel, who leaves with a tenure record of 10-40, emphasized that the choice to step away was “100 percent” his own.
Despite the on-field challenges, McDaniel’s time at Elberta marked significant advancements in the school’s athletic facilities and overall competitiveness.
“It’s been an incredible honor and privilege to serve as the head football coach and athletic director at Elberta High School for the last five years,” McDaniel shared in a statement. “Elberta has been a blessing for me and my family. I am deeply thankful for the support of principal Branton Bailey, the Baldwin County Board of Education, and the towns of Elberta, Summerdale, and Lillian. The friendships and experiences we’ve made here are truly unforgettable.”
McDaniel also expressed gratitude to his assistant coaches, players, and his family, including his wife Tamara and daughters Mia Marie and Alma, in a separate social media post.
He is expected to continue serving as the school’s athletic director through the remainder of the academic year.

McDaniel became Elberta’s second head football coach in the program’s short history. Greg Seibert inaugurated the team, leading the Warriors to a junior varsity record of 5-9 in two seasons while facing primarily varsity-level competition.
Before taking over the Elberta football program prior to the 2020 season, McDaniel was head coach at Baldwin County High, where he achieved a 31-29 record over six seasons (2014-2019). His coaching resume also includes two years as defensive coordinator at Daleville, four years as linebackers coach at Prattville, and two years as defensive coordinator at Daphne. Notably, McDaniel contributed to Prattville’s state championship victories in 2008 and 2011.
Across his 11 seasons as a head coach, McDaniel has compiled a career record of 41-69.
