Spanish Fort Edges Chelsea 2-1 to Clinch Spot in Class 6A Boys Soccer Final

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Senior Ethan Spuler proved clutch for Spanish Fort as his two goals lifted the Toros to a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the AHSAA Class 6A boys’ soccer semifinal at John Hunt Park on Thursday.

Chelsea (20-5-0), led by head coach Lee Miller, took an early lead just six minutes into the match. Luke Miller found the net with a sharp strike off an assist from Parker Dean to give the Hornets a 1-0 advantage.

However, the Toros (21-3-4), under the direction of head coach Jason Bauer, wasted no time responding. Spuler’s first goal came at the 36:21 mark of the opening half, leveling the score at 1-1. With both defenses holding firm through much of the second half, Spuler struck again at the 65:56 mark to put Spanish Fort ahead.

Goalkeeper Brice Krot anchored the Toros’ defense, recording four saves to secure the victory. Both teams played tight defensively, allowing few scoring opportunities in a closely contested match.

Spanish Fort will now face Southside in the Class 6A state championship match, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at John Hunt Park. Both teams will be vying for their first-ever state boys’ soccer title.

The win advances Spanish Fort’s hopes of bringing a blue map back to the Eastern Shore, capping off an impressive season for the Toros.
