Tuscaloosa Academy Rolls into to Boys 1A/3A Soccer Final with 5-3 Win Over Providence Christian
HUNTSVILLE, AL – Tuscaloosa Academy (21-5) secured a spot in the Class 1A/3A state finals with a 5-3 victory over Providence Christian (16-1-0) on Wednesday. Senior striker Anton Schmidt led the Knights with an impressive four-goal performance under the guidance of Coach Carter Hill.
Schmidt’s offensive prowess was on full display, scoring twice in the first half at the 15th and 30th minutes. He followed up with two crucial second-half goals, including a breakaway strike at the 77th minute that showcased his speed and skill. This goal provided a two-goal cushion at 5-3, halting the Eagles’ comeback attempt.
For Providence Christian, Reese Salter, Craig Pittman, and Elijah Joye each found the back of the net. Joye’s goal, assisted by Pittman at the 64th minute, brought the Eagles within one at 4-3 before Schmidt sealed the result with his fourth and final goal.

The Eagles’ keeper, Stuart Crim, recorded five saves, while the Knights’ Owen Price tallied three stops during the match.
Tuscaloosa Academy now advances to face Collinsville in the Class 1A/3A state finals on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at John Hunt Park.
