Fairview Blanks Fultondale 48-0 in Season Opener
FULTONDALE, AL – The Fairview Aggies opened their 2025 high school football season with authority Friday night, crushing the Fultondale Wildcats 48-0 in a dominant road performance that showcased their offensive firepower and defensive prowess.
Aggies First Quarter Explosion Sets the Tone
The Aggies wasted no time establishing control from the opening kickoff. Jake Harper sparked the scoring drive with a explosive 31-yard rushing attempt, advancing the ball to Fultondale’s 29-yard line. Harper continued his early dominance two plays later, breaking loose for 23 yards to reach the two-yard line before punching in a one-yard touchdown run for the game’s first score.
Fairview’s special teams unit immediately created another scoring opportunity when Jace Stevens recovered the ensuing kickoff at the 30-yard line. Quarterback Kolt Redding capitalized instantly, connecting with Jordan Ellis on a 22-yard pass play to the eight-yard line. Harper required just one play to find the end zone again, extending the Aggies’ lead to 14-0.
The Fairview defense forced a quick three-and-out on Fultondale’s first possession, setting up another scoring drive from the 34-yard line. Running backs Rex Chandler and Harper controlled the ground game, with Harper capping the drive with a three-yard touchdown run for a 21-0 advantage.
Weather Delay Fails to Cool Aggies’ Momentum
A weather delay sent both teams to their locker rooms for nearly an hour, but the interruption failed to disrupt Fairview’s rhythm. Following the delay, the Aggies’ defense continued their dominant performance, forcing another Fultondale punt.
Harper delivered another big-play run to reach the 44-yard line, setting up a Redding-to-Stevens connection on a 25-yard screen pass. One play later, Redding found receiver Conner Scott for a 19-yard touchdown strike, pushing the lead to 28-0 with 9:13 remaining in the first half.
The scoring continued after another defensive stop, as Chandler powered into the end zone from one yard out for a 35-0 advantage. Harper capped his outstanding first-half performance with a spectacular 38-yard touchdown run, sending Fairview into halftime with a commanding 42-0 lead.
Running Clock Activates for Second Half
The substantial lead triggered a running clock for the entire second half, limiting additional scoring opportunities. John Short added the game’s final touchdown with a seven-yard run late in the fourth quarter, securing the 48-0 shutout victory.
Statistical Standouts
Harper emerged as the game’s offensive star, accumulating 191 rushing yards on 13 carries with four touchdowns. Chandler contributed 25 rushing yards and one touchdown to complement Harper’s performance.
Redding completed 7 of 11 passing attempts for 115 yards and one touchdown, while Scott hauled in three receptions for 36 yards and a score. The Aggies’ defensive unit recorded multiple sacks, with Joseph Harbison, Avery Latham, Alex Garcia, and Harper each bringing down the Fultondale quarterback.
Looking Ahead
Fairview (1-0) returns home to Dafford Smith Stadium next week to host the Springville Tigers (0-1). The Wildcats will remain at home to face Jefferson County opponent Center Point (0-1) in their next 2025 season matchup.
