ALEXANDER CITY, AL – Benjamin Russell delivered a commanding 40-7 victory over Class 5A No. 3 Central-Clay County Thursday night, securing head coach Kirk Johnson’s inaugural win with the program.

Wildcats Offense Fires on All Cylinders

Quarterback Kingston Preyear orchestrated the offensive attack, completing 10 of 16 passes for 85 yards and one touchdown while adding 32 rushing yards on three carries. The dual-threat signal-caller effectively managed the game from start to finish.

The rushing attack proved unstoppable with multiple players finding the end zone. Alijah Johnson carried the ball six times for 62 yards and two touchdowns, leading a balanced ground game. Josh Harrell contributed 59 yards and one score, while Jyque Norris added 50 yards and another touchdown.

BJ Bedgood capped off the scoring with a 7-yard rushing touchdown and hauled in two passes for 22 yards, showcasing the team’s versatility.

Defense Steps Up

The Wildcats defense, anchored by Brandon Hicks and his seven tackles, effectively contained the Central-Clay County offense throughout the contest. The unit’s performance limited the visiting Volunteers to just seven points.
