Jake Lowery Throws Three Touchdowns as Moody Downs Oxford 31-7

MOODY, AL – The fourth-ranked Class 5A Moody Blue Devils delivered a commanding performance Friday night, defeating the Class 6A No. 10 Oxford Yellow Jackets 31-7 Friday night at Bill Morris Stadium. The victory served as redemption for Moody’s narrow 24-21 defeat to Oxford in their inaugural matchup last season.

The win improves head coach Jake Ganus’ Blue Devils to 1-1 on the season.  The Yellow Jackets start off the season at 0-2 for the first time since 2013.  

First Half Surge Powers Blue Devils

Moody (1-1) established early dominance with 24 first-half points, setting the tone for what would become a decisive victory. Junior quarterback Jake Lowery orchestrated the offensive attack, completing 14 of 23 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns.

The scoring began when Lowery connected with Colin Eatmon on a 21-yard touchdown strike. Lowery then found his favorite target, Jo Dozier, twice in the end zone – first on a 20-yard pass, then a 10-yard completion.

Balanced Offensive Attack

The Blue Devils’ receiving corps showed impressive depth throughout the contest. Aidden White led all receivers with seven catches for 51 yards, while Dozier contributed six receptions for 39 yards and two scores.

Le’Kamren Meadows added to the offensive production with a two-yard rushing touchdown. Kicker Ryan McPherson capped the scoring with a 37-yard field goal, showcasing the team’s balanced attack.

Looking Ahead to Region Play

Both teams now turn their attention to crucial region matchups next Friday night. Moody travels to Jacksonville (1-1) to open Class 5A Region 6 competition, carrying momentum from this impressive victory.

Oxford will return to Lamar Field to host the Shades Valley Mounties (1-1) in their Class 6A Region 6 opener, seeking to bounce back from this setback.
