BIRMINGHAM, AL – The defending Class 6A champion Parker Thundering Herd extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 27-11 victory over the Mountain Brook Spartans Friday night in the Magic City.

They followed with another sustained drive, covering 84 yards in 10 plays before Jeremiah Johnson found the end zone on a 10-yard rushing score, giving Parker a commanding 14-0 advantage.

Defensive Standout Performance

Defensive lineman Robert Taylor anchored Parker’s defense, recording a game-high 11 tackles and two quarterback sacks. His dominant performance helped contain Mountain Brook’s offensive efforts throughout the contest.

Parker quarterback Dylan Reese completed 11 of 17 passes for 141 yards while contributing a 2-yard rushing touchdown. The ground game proved explosive as Chancellor Sparks carried the ball 12 times for 147 yards, highlighted by a spectacular 48-yard touchdown run.

Mountain Brook (1-1) showed resilience in the loss. Quarterback Cayden Hofbauer delivered a strong dual-threat performance, completing 13 of 26 passes for 182 yards while adding 90 rushing yards on 12 carries. The Spartans found the scoreboard through William Russ’s 23-yard field goal, Stuart Andrews’s 2-yard rushing touchdown, and a two-point conversion pass from Hofbauer to John Colvin.

Looking Ahead

Mountain Brook returns home to Spartan Stadium next week to host the Hueytown Golden Gophers (0-1). Meanwhile, Parker begins Class 6A, Region 5 competition when they welcome the Gardendale Rockets (0-2) to Major Brown Memorial Stadium.

The victory keeps Parker’s championship defense on track as they continue their quest for back-to-back blue maps.
