Thompson’s Trent Seaborn Reaches Historic 7,000-Yard Milestone
Warriors Junior QB Joins Elite AHSAA Passing Club
ALABASTER, AL – Thompson Warriors junior quarterback Trent Seaborn achieved a significant milestone last week, surpassing 7,000 career passing yards during the team’s thrilling 24-23 overtime loss to Georgia powerhouse Grayson. The accomplished signal-caller completed 38 of 56 passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns in the hard-fought contest.
Record-Breaking Performance Numbers
Seaborn’s 56 pass attempts in the Grayson game rank ninth all-time in AHSAA single-game history. This effort ties him with two other notable quarterbacks:
- Gunner Rivers (St. Michael Catholic, 2023): 39-of-56 for 356 yards and three TDs in a 41-20 loss to Gulf Shores
- Chris Smelley (current Sylacauga head coach, 2005): 29-of-56 for 565 yards in the Class 1A state finals against Brantley
The state record for pass attempts belongs to Northview’s Robert Nomberg, who threw 68 passes in 1987, completing 37 for 379 yards and three touchdowns in a 33-23 loss to Greenville.
Completions Record Among AHSAA Elite
With 38 completions against Grayson, Seaborn ties for third place in AHSAA single-game completion records alongside:
- Cole Wilson (Piedmont): 38-of-54 for 388 yards and three TDs in a 30-28 playoff victory over Fyffe
- Brian Park (Westminster Christian): 38-of-62 for 447 yards in a 2008 win over Red Bay
The completion record holders remain Tyler Caldwell of Cullman (52-of-61 vs. Mountain Brook, 2008) and James Raines of Berry (39-of-44 vs. Pickens County, 2016).
Exclusive 7,000-Yard Club Membership
Seaborn becomes just the 33rd quarterback in AHSAA history to eclipse 7,000 career passing yards. His impressive statistics through his junior season include:
- Completions: 564 of 881 attempts
- Passing yards: 7,088
- Touchdown passes: 74
- Seasons remaining: Rest of 2025 plus entire senior year in 2026
Championship Success Under Coach Freeman
Beyond individual milestones, Seaborn has guided the Thompson Warriors to unprecedented team success under head coach Mark Freeman. Over the past three seasons, the Warriors have captured:
- Two Class 7A state championships
- One state runner-up finish
