Dallas Helton’s Fumble Recovery Lifts Arab Over Sardis in 21-15 Comeback

SARDIS, AL – The Arab Knights secured a dramatic 21-15 victory over the Sardis Lions on Friday night, overcoming a halftime deficit in a hard-fought Class 5A, Region 8 contest.

The win improves head coach Kyle Routon’s Arabian Knights to 2-1 on the season while the Lions drop to 1-2.

Sardis dominated the first half, building a 15-0 lead by the middle of the second quarter. Arab began to chip away before halftime when quarterback Nic Stevens connected with Owen Lambert for a 14-yard touchdown pass, pulling the Knights closer going to the break 15-7.

The Knights continued their rally in the third quarter. A two-yard touchdown run by Jon Loden narrowed the Sardis lead to 15-13. The game’s pivotal moment came later in the quarter when Dallas Helton recovered a fumble and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown. A successful two-point conversion by Stevens gave Arab the 21-15 lead they would not surrender.

Arab returns to action next Friday night welcoming the 1-2 Brewer Patriots to Brindlee Mountain.  Sardis hits to road to Marshall County to take on the unbeaten Guntersville Wildcats (3-0).
