No. 1 Ranked Central-Phenix City Dominates Smiths Station 56-20 

PHENIX CITY, AL — The Class 7A No. 1 ranked Central-Phenix City Red Devils secured their 17th consecutive win over Class 7A, Region 2 foe Smiths Station Friday night, rolling to a decisive 56-20 victory in front of their home crowd.  

The Red Devils’ offense ignited immediately. Only 17 seconds into the game, junior quarterback Bobby Coleman launched a 56-yard touchdown pass to junior running back Jayshaun Woodhouse. Though Smiths Station answered with a score to make it 7-6, Central quickly responded with a touchdown run from Donovan Crow.

Central’s offensive surge continued throughout the first half. A 70-yard punt return by Branden Brown and a 42-yard touchdown pass from Coleman to Braylen Averett helped the Red Devils build an overwhelming 42-6 lead by halftime.

With the game well in hand, Central rested its starters in the second half. The team’s final scores came on a 28-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Abe Hatmaker to Octavious Staton and a rushing touchdown by Kamarion James.

Donovan Crow powered the Red Devils’ ground attack, finishing with 59 yards and three touchdowns. Jayshaun Woodhouse contributed 57 rushing yards and the opening touchdown reception. Coleman was highly efficient, completing 5 of 6 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

For the Smiths Station Panthers, Trevion Kee was a standout performer, rushing for 107 yards on 15 carries and accounting for all three of his team’s touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Coach Patrick Nix’s undefeated Red Devils (3-0) will host the Dothan Wolves (3-0) next Friday at Garrett Harrison Stadium in a highly anticipated matchup. Smiths Station (0-3) will travel to the Cramton Bowl to face the Carver-Montgomery Wolverines (2-1).
