No. 4 Fairview Downs West Point 42-14 in Cullman County Rivalry

WEST POINT, AL. – The Fairview Aggies, ranked 4th in Class 5A,  secured a decisive 42-14 region victory over the West Point Warriors in a highly anticipated Cullman County grudge match Friday night. The Aggies established an early lead and maintained control throughout the game, improving to 3-0.

Head coach George Redding Jr.’s Aggies wasted no time putting points on the board. After a West Point fumble recovery by Slayde Clayton was negated by a turnover on downs, the Aggies’ offense took charge. Quarterback Kolt Redding connected with Jace Stevens for a 25-yard touchdown pass, giving Fairview a 7-0 lead with 7:33 left in the first quarter.

The Aggies’ lead grew quickly. A bad snap on a West Point punt attempt resulted in a fumble recovered in the end zone by Fairview’s Joseph Harbison for a touchdown, pushing the score to 14-0. Before the first quarter ended, running back Jake Harper broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 21-0.

West Point found its footing in the second quarter. Running back Ollie Howell ignited the home crowd with a 53-yard touchdown run, cutting Fairview’s lead to 21-7.

However, the Aggies’ offense responded immediately. Redding launched a 65-yard touchdown pass to Stevens, making the score 28-7. Just before halftime, the duo connected again on an 80-yard touchdown pass, giving Fairview a commanding 35-7 lead at the break.

Coming out of halftime, Fairview continued its offensive assault. Harper scored his second touchdown of the night on a 25-yard run early in the third quarter, increasing the lead to 42-7.

West Point added a final score late in the fourth quarter when Ayden Ennis punched in a one-yard touchdown run. The late effort was not enough to overcome the early deficit, and the Aggies left with a 42-14 win.

Looking ahead, Fairview (3-0) will welcome the  Ardmore Tigers (2-1) to Dafford Smith Stadium next week, while West Point (1-2) travels to Moulton to face the Lawrence County Red Devils (1-2).
