Thompson Earns 500th Victory in Program History with 69-0 Shutout over Tuscaloosa County
ALABASTER, AL – The second-ranked Thompson Warriors secured a decisive 69-0 victory over Tuscaloosa County in their Class 7A, Region 3 opener Friday night. The win marked a historic milestone for the program, delivering its 500th all-time victory in front of a home crowd.
Thompson (2-1) established control early, capitalizing on excellent field position. The Warriors started their first three possessions deep in Tuscaloosa County territory, converting each opportunity into a touchdown.
A significant opening kickoff return by Mehkii Billingsley set up a 4-yard touchdown run by RJ Evans. Shortly after, a fumble recovery on Tuscaloosa County’s first play from scrimmage led to a 2-yard rushing touchdown for quarterback KJ Jackson, quickly extending the lead to 14-0.
The Warriors’ momentum continued as a Pryce Lewis punt return placed the offense at the Wildcats’ 34-yard line. On the next play, quarterback Trent Seaborn connected with Dedrick Kimbrough for a touchdown pass. A 1-yard touchdown run by Urijah Casey closed the first quarter with Thompson leading 28-0.
Before halftime, Seaborn threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Lewis, and Casey added an 11-yard scoring run, pushing the advantage to 42-0.
In the second half, Thompson continued to showcase its depth. Rushing touchdowns from Billingsley, Jafari Pegues, backup quarterback Zealand Danielson, and a 22-yard run by Josiah Finley brought the final score to 69-0.
Next week, Thompson continues its region schedule with an away game against the Oak Mountain Eagles (2-1). Tuscaloosa County (0-3) will travel to face the Prattville Lions (2-1).
