No. 1 Ranked Parker Downs Gardendale 47-3 in Region Opener
BIRMINGHAM, AL – The defending Class 6A State Champion Parker Thundering Herd defeated the Gardendale Rockets 47-3 in the Class 6A, Region 5 opener Friday night at Major Brown Memorial Stadium. The win extends Parker’s winning streak to 13 games, improving their season record to 3-0. The Rockets fall to 0-3 on the year.
Parker quarterback Dylan Reese delivered a near-perfect performance, leading his team to a decisive victory. The senior was 14-of-18 passing for 348 yards and threw six touchdown passes to four different receivers.
The Thundering Herd established an early lead, scoring 14 points in the first quarter. Gardendale’s only points came in the second quarter on a 37-yard field goal by Stewart Logan. Parker responded by adding 20 more points before halftime, entering the locker room with a 34-3 lead.
Parker continued its offensive surge with another 13 points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter remained scoreless.
Reese’s touchdown passes included strikes of 15, 12, 58, 6, 18, and 68 yards. Kejuan Gregg-Lamb was the leading receiver for the Herd, securing 5 catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Kentrell Davis also contributed with two touchdown catches.
Next Friday, Gardendale will host the Jackson-Olin Mustangs (1-1) at Driver Stadium. Meanwhile, Head Coach Frank Warren and the Thundering Herd will travel to Kimberly to face the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils (1-2), aiming to continue their perfect season.
