Arab Dominates Brewer In 31-13 Homecoming Win
Knights Control the Line of Scrimmage, Improve to 3-1
ARAB, AL – The Arab Arabian Knights secured a decisive 31-13 homecoming victory over the Brewer Patriots Friday night, powered by a dominant ground game and a stifling defensive performance. The Class 5A, Region 8 win improves Arab’s record to 3-1 on the season, 2-0 in region play. Brewer slips to 1-3 (0-2) early in Jordan Miller’s first season at the helm of the Patriots program.
From the opening kick, Arab established control on both sides of the ball. The Knights’ defense was the story of the night, effectively shutting down the Patriots’ offense. Brewer struggled to find any running room against a formidable Arab front, managing only 29 rushing yards for the game. The defensive pressure was relentless, limiting the Patriots to just eight first downs and keeping them out of the end zone for much of the contest.
While the defense set the tone, the Arab offense did its part by methodically moving the ball and controlling the clock. The Knights amassed 314 total yards, with a significant portion coming from their powerful rushing attack. This balanced effort allowed Arab to maintain possession and wear down the Brewer defense as the game progressed.
Hudson Leads Potent Knights Rushing Attack
The offensive effort for the Arabian Knights was spearheaded by running back Luke Hudson, who delivered a standout performance. Hudson was the workhorse for Arab, consistently finding gaps and breaking tackles. He carried the ball 29 times, accumulating an impressive 143 yards on the ground. His ability to move the chains and finish drives was crucial, as he found the end zone for three touchdowns.
Complementing Hudson’s powerful running was fellow running back Nic Stephens. Stephens provided a change of pace and an explosive element to the backfield, adding 96 yards on just 11 carries. His biggest play of the night came on a breakaway run that resulted in a touchdown, further extending Arab’s lead. Together, Hudson and Stephens combined for 239 rushing yards and four touchdowns, proving to be a tandem that the Brewer defense could not contain.
The success of the running game was a testament to the strong play of Arab’s offensive line. The linemen consistently created running lanes, controlled the line of scrimmage, and gave their backs the space needed to make plays. This dominance up front was a key factor in the Knights’ ability to sustain long drives and ultimately put the game out of reach.
Region Standings and What’s Next
With this crucial region win, the Arabian Knights remain locked in a three-way tie atop the Class 5A, Region 8 standings alongside Guntersville and Scottsboro. The Knights’ performance against Brewer solidifies their position as a contender in Region 8 and builds momentum heading into the meat of the regular season.
Looking ahead, Arab faces its most significant challenge of the year. The Knights will host archrival Guntersville in a highly anticipated region showdown next Friday. This game will have major implications for the region title race, with the winner gaining a critical head-to-head advantage.
Meanwhile, the Patriots will have an open date next week before welcoming the Class 6A Cullman Bearcats (0-4) to James Tucker Stadium on September 26th.
