Coosa Christian’s Rushing Attack Overpowers Falkville in 26-0 Shutout
GADSDEN, AL — Coosa Christian’s powerful ground game and stout defense proved too much for the Falkville Blue Devils, leading the Conquerors to a decisive 26-0 region victory on Friday night at Phillip Ellen Stadium.
With the win, Class 2A, No. 6 Coosa Christian, under the guidance of head coach Rush Propst, advances to 2-2 on the season and remains undefeated in Region 6 play at 2-0. The loss marks the first of the season for Falkville, dropping their overall record to 2-1 and their region mark to 1-1.
The Conquerors dominated on the ground, accumulating 234 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 43 carries. Running back Joseph East was the workhorse, carrying the ball 25 times for an impressive 155 yards and three touchdowns. Kylen Johnson also made a significant impact, adding 81 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushes.
Through the air, quarterback Mac Long completed 10 of his 19 pass attempts for 106 yards, though he did throw two interceptions. Kylen Johnson was a key target, catching five passes for 50 yards, while Grayson Malone contributed two receptions for 42 yards.
Looking ahead, Coosa Christian will travel to Blount County next Friday night to face the Susan Moore Bulldogs (2-2, 2-0). Falkville will look to bounce back as they head to Remlap to take on the Southeastern Mustangs (2-2, 1-0).
