GOOD HOPE, AL – The Good Hope Raiders continued their impressive start to 2025 Friday night, securing a decisive 42-0 victory over the Haleyville Lions in a key Class 4A, Region 4 matchup Friday night at James W. Shabel Stadium.

The win improves Good Hope, ranked No. 6 in Class 4A to 3-0 on the season.  The Raiders have been dominant through three games pitching a pair of shutout and putting up a combined 136 points while only surrendering a single touchdown.  The struggling Lions slip to 0-4.

Head coach Alan Scott’s Raiders established an early lead, carrying a 42-0 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

The scoring started early in the first quarter when Mason Drake found the end zone on a 6-yard run, putting the Raiders up 7-0. Good Hope’s special teams came up big on the following kickoff, recovering a Haleyville fumble to give their offense excellent field position. Quarterback Parker Johnson capitalized quickly, connecting with Carter Rutherford for a touchdown pass extending the spread to two scores. The Johnson-to-Rutherford connection proved successful again on the next drive, resulting in another touchdown and a 21-0 lead for Good Hope.

In the second quarter, the Raiders’ offense continued to fire on all cylinders. Drake scored his second touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run, pushing the score to 28-0. Later in the quarter, Drake broke free for a 75-yard touchdown run, showcasing his explosive speed and making it a 35-0 game. The defense added to the point total when Cody Stevens intercepted a pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown, giving Good Hope a commanding 42-0 lead at the half.

Looking ahead, the Raiders will welcome the Cordava Blue Devils (2-2, 1-1) to Cullman County next Friday night in a key region 4 matchup.  Haleyville returns to Bubba Scott Field to host the Fayette County Wildcats (3-1, 2-0).
