Madison Academy Holds Off Arab Comeback to Secure 35-27 Victory
MADISON, AL – The No. 7 ranked Madison Academy Mustangs held off a late surge from the Arab Arabian Knights to claim a 35-27 victory on Friday night at Bill Washington Stadium. The win marks the fourth consecutive victory for Coach Bob Godsey’s Mustangs, advancing their record to 4-1. The Knights slip to 3-3 on the season.
The game started quickly, with Madison Academy quarterback Charleston Owens scoring on a 30-yard touchdown run just three plays into the matchup. The Mustangs’ rushing dominance continued with running back Daylen Scott, who delivered an outstanding performance. Scott found the end zone four times on touchdown runs of 24, 2, 80, and 1 yards, finishing the night with 138 rushing yards.
Madison Academy established a 35-14 lead in the third quarter. However, Arab mounted a comeback, scoring 13 unanswered points to narrow the gap. Arab’s offense was highlighted by a 32-yard touchdown pass from Nic Stephens to Davis Kinney and a 6-yard scoring run from Jonathan Loden earlier in the game. Landon Pitt added a late touchdown run for the Knights, but a failed two-point conversion kept the Mustangs in the lead.
