Jamison Roberts Leads No. 2 Saraland in Decisive 42-10 Win Over St. Paul’s Episcopal

SARALAND, AL – Junior quarterback Jamison Roberts delivered a commanding performance, propelling the No. 2-ranked Saraland Spartans to a 42-10 victory over St. Paul’s Episcopal Friday night at Spartan Stadium. The win keeps Saraland’s undefeated season intact.

Roberts, who received an offer from Auburn University earlier in the week, showcased his talent by completing 14 of his 19 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed a rushing touchdown. The Spartans’ offense was dominant from the start, building an insurmountable 42-3 lead by halftime.

Saraland scored on all six of their first-half possessions. Roberts connected with Duke commitment Deshawn Spencer for two touchdowns, one for 42 yards and another for 15 yards. Spencer finished the game with six catches for 125 yards. Roberts also found L.J. Edwards for a 7-yard touchdown pass and added a 2-yard score on the ground. P.J. Brown and Spencer each added rushing touchdowns of 6 and 18 yards, respectively.

St. Paul’s (5-2, 3-2) found the scoreboard with a 47-yard field goal from Turner Antoon. Their only touchdown came early in the third quarter when Oregon commitment Tank Jones recovered a fumble, returning it 38 yards for a score after Roberts was stripped of the ball. Following the decisive first half, the second half operated under a running clock.

The victory extends several impressive streaks for Saraland (7-0, 6-0 in 6A Region 1). The Spartans have now won their 27th consecutive regular-season game, their 23rd straight region contest, and a state-leading 36th straight home game. They also maintain a perfect 7-0 all-time record against the Saints.

Next week, Saraland hosts the Murphy Panthers, while St. Paul’s aims to rebound at home against McGill-Toolen Catholic.
