No. 2 Thompson Rolls Past Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 56-10

ALABASTER, AL – The second ranked and defending state Class 7A champion Thompson Warriors made a statement in Region 3 play Friday, cruising to a 56-10 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. The Warriors took control from the outset, scoring touchdowns on their first seven drives.

Thompson moves to 6-2 overall and stays perfect in Region 3 at 5-0. Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa drops to 5-3 on the season and 2-3 in the region.

Standout Thompson quarterback Trent Seaborn paced the Warriors’ offense, going 12-of-13 for 267 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of play. Seaborn was sharp early, connecting on 11 straight passes to start the game and throwing two first-half touchdown strikes to running back KJ Jackson.

Thompson’s running game was led by Urijah Casey, who racked up 135 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries, including scoring runs of 56 and 15 yards. RJ Evans chipped in with a 3-yard touchdown run before halftime.

The Warriors kept up the pressure in the third quarter. Seaborn launched a 61-yard touchdown pass to Darion Moseley, stretching the lead to 42-10. KJ Jackson found the end zone again with a 3-yard run, and Colton Moore scooped up a fumble and took it 39 yards for a defensive touchdown, pushing the final tally to 56-10. Both teams rotated in reserves for the rest of the contest.

Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa’s scoring came from a 32-yard field goal by Elijah Miller and a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Jordan Shambley.

Looking ahead, head coach Mark Freeman’s Warriors travel to the Hoover Met to take on the tenth ranked Bucs (5-3, 3-2) next Friday night.  Hillcrest will look to bounce back by welcoming the Prattville Lions (4-3, 3-2) to Roy Johnson Jr. Stadium.
