Moody Dominates Springville 55-7, Secures Second Straight Region Title
MOODY, AL – The third-ranked Moody Blue Devils captured their second consecutive Class 5A, Region 6 championship with a decisive 55-7 victory over the Springville Tigers on Friday night at Bill Morris Stadium. This marks the fifth region title in the program’s 47-year history for head coach Jake Ganus and his team.
The Blue Devils advance to 7-2 for the season and maintain a perfect 5-0 record in region play. Springville falls to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the region under first-year head coach Chris Metcalf.
Moody established control early, building a commanding 42-0 lead by halftime through a series of explosive offensive plays.
Quarterback Jake Lowery delivered an efficient performance, completing 11 of 14 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns. His scoring passes included a 65-yard connection to Aubrey Walker and a 60-yard strike to Jalijah Rutledge.
The Blue Devils’ rushing attack was equally potent. Kevin James broke free for an 82-yard touchdown run, while Aidden White added a 56-yard scoring run of his own. James finished as the team’s leading rusher with 110 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries.
Rutledge was the top receiver, hauling in four passes for 114 yards and a score. The ground game also saw significant contributions from Justin Hill, who rushed eight times for 47 yards and two touchdowns, and Le’Kamren Meadows, who added 54 yards and a touchdown on five carries.
Looking ahead, Moody will close out their regular season with a road trip to Lincoln (2-6, 1-4) next Friday night. Springville returns home to Tiger Stadium to host the Center Point Eagles (1-6, 0-5).
