Scottsboro Strikes Early, Overpowers Arab 28-7

ARAB, AL – The Scottsboro Wildcats claimed a decisive 28-7 win over the Arab Arabian Knights, fueled by key plays on special teams, offense, and a strong ground game Friday night on Brindlee Mountain. .

The visitors came off the bus firing, Quincie Franklin delivered an electrifying 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The Wildcats extended their lead in the second quarter with a 34-yard touchdown run from Conner Vaden.

Head coach Tyler Vann’s Wildcat offensive added two more scores. Jayden Gilbert found the end zone on an 8-yard run, and quarterback Colton Harding connected with Cohen Thompson for a 21-yard touchdown pass. Harding completed all nine of his pass attempts for 76 yards and one touchdown. Running back Jacobi Edmonson shined in the Wildcat backfield, rushing for 133 yards on 15 carries.

Arab’s only score came in the third quarter on a 17-yard touchdown run by Landon Pitt. Pitt finished the game with 43 rushing yards. Knights quarterback Nic Stevens threw for 127 yards.

With the win, Scottsboro improves to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in Class 5A, Region 8. The Wildcats will have a bye next week before welcoming the undefeated Mars Hill Bible Panthers (9-0, 7-0) to Pat Trammell Stadium on October 30th. Arab, now 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the region, will travel to Boaz to take on Marshall County rival Boaz  (6-2, 3-2) next Friday night in a contest that will determine playoff seeding, to close out the regular season.
