Deric Scott Dismissed at Foley After Six Seasons
FOLEY, AL – Foley High School has announced a leadership change in its football program, parting ways with head coach Deric Scott after six seasons.
The Monroeville native compiled a 28-32 record during his tenure with the Lions. His tenure at the helm of the Class 7A program was highlighted by a region title and playoff appearance in 2022.
The Lions capped their 2025 campaign at 4-6, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year. The team concluded its schedule with victories over Alma Bryant and LeFlore, securing a sixth-place finish in the competitive Class 7A, Region 1.
Scott took over the Foley program in 2020 after the Lions parted ways with former head coach Tad Niblett who posted a 17-34 record and one playoff appearance over the previous five seasons. . Before taking the helm of the Baldwin County program, he served for five seasons as the head coach at Mobile’s Vigor High School, amassing a 41-21 record. His Vigor teams claimed three region crowns and advanced to the postseason in each of his five seasons with the Wolves, highlighted by an appearance in the 2018 Class 5A state championship game.

This was Scott’s second stint at Foley having served as the Lions’ linebackers coach and defensive coordinator under former FHS head coach Todd Watson. Before accepting his first head coaching position at Vigor in 2015 he served as an assistant at Alma Bryant, Vigor and Foley.
His twin brother Eric is currently the head coach at Baker High School.
Scott’s head coaching record currently stands at 69-53 including a trip to the Super 7, four region titles and an 8-6 mark in postseason play over 11 seasons.
